The Ingenue

When I think of youthful skin I think of a fresh face, glowing skin without a blemish in sight. It's an image that simply isn't true for most of us. Youth is the age of breakouts, and for some of us, that "youthfulness" follows into adulthood. That's why I created the Ingenue Serum, named with a nod to that dreamy young face I imagine, and full of oils rich in the fatty acids that oily, acne prone skin craves.

Neem Oil
Neem oil has long been used in folk remedies for everything from contraception to pesticide. It is most known for its perceived antiseptic properties however, and that's why I'm a fan. Our organic neem oil is sourced from India, and is cold pressed from the fruit kernels of the neem plant. It solidifies at cold temperatures and occasionally this leaves light colored specks in the serum. These will melt at room temperature and are completely normal.

Rosehip Seed Oil
A champion of oily skin, rosehip seed oil is full of alpha-linolenic and linoleic acids. Those of us with acne need linolenic acid to make up for the lack of it in the oil our skin naturally produces. Rosehip seed oil is also considered a great oil to help regulate oil production and help your skin become more consistent. We source ours organically, cold-pressed and unrefined, from a variety of countries.

Sacha Inchi Oil
Less well known than rosehip seed oil, but included for many of the same reasons, sacha inchi oil is composed over 90% of fatty acids. It is even sustainably farmed in South America, mainly in areas surrounding the Amazon River. The plant produces fruit for up to 75 years, can be grown year round, and as demand for the oil grows, it encourages reforestation efforts in the Amazon.

Our organic essential oil blend of Ylang-Ylang, Palmarosa, Myrtle, and Geranium is specifically formulated to assist these powerhouse plant oils in reducing the appearance of breakouts and excess oil.
